If your child is interested in learning to play the piano and you have been considering buying one, you should do this. You will be surprised how many benefits it will give your child. Below are three of these benefits so you can make the best informed decision on if this is right for your child.

Improves School Skills

Music can actually help improve your child's skills in different subjects in school. According to a study that was published in the Journal of Educational Psychology May's issue, organized music lessons can benefit children's IQ scores, as well as their academic performance.

Music helps children with their listening skills, which means they will listen to their teacher better while they are in class. Because of this, they will learn new information easier, and master new academic skills faster.

Raises Self-Esteem

If your child has problems with their self-esteem, playing the piano can be a big help to them. Learning to play takes dedication and hard work from your child. They will feel good about themselves once they start becoming better at playing. Once they learn different songs, they can do recitals in your area. When they finish the recital, you will be very proud of them, and seeing that you are proud will make them also feel proud about themselves.

Taking piano lessons can also help your child as it helps them keep a positive outlook when they are facing this difficult task. They will also feel very confident about themselves, and look forward to their piano lesson.

Increases Strength in Their Hands

Playing the piano develops dexterity in your child's hands. As they hold their fingers on the keys and move their fingers as they play, they use the muscles in their hands and wrists. It is important, however, that your child learn to play in the correct hand position. If you do not know how to play the piano, you should get them some lessons, even if it is only a few, so they can learn the correct way to play.

As you can see, even if your child is very young, you should get them piano lessons, and even consider purchasing them a piano so they can practice at home. If, however, you think your child may lose interest in the piano over time, you may want to consider renting a piano instead of purchasing one in the beginning. Contact a company like The Foundation Music and Art Center for more information on piano lessons.

About Me
A Cherished Christmas Gift

When I was a kid, my maternal grandparents spoiled me. I was their first grandchild. So, they showered me with affection and gifts whenever they got the opportunity to do so. When I was four-years-old, they bought me a piano for Christmas. Because my grandfather died when I was twelve-years-old, this piano has always been extremely special to me. Unfortunately, when I moved into my current home, I could not bring this beautiful instrument with me. My house was too small. Thankfully, my husband and I are planning a major addition to this tiny, brick home. When the construction is complete, I plan to move my piano from my parents’ house to my home. I can’t wait to make joyful music on this piano again. On this blog, I hope you will be inspired to play the music in your heart.
